Kratom is marketed as an herbal supplement to reduce pain, anxiety, and depression and is sold in convenience stores, but it can be very dangerous. It is packaged in small bottles similar to the 5-hour energy shots. In fact, young people have reported purchasing it thinking they were buying an energy drink. This is especially dangerous for the unknowing teen, because kids will try anything that says energy supplement.
Kratom is addictive and is often referred to as “synthetic heroin,” because it attaches to the same receptors in the brain as opiates and heroin. Law enforcement officials are extremely concerned about the dangers of this so-called herbal suplement and are working on a bill to outlaw Kratom.
