So many people do their part in taking care of the Earth every day by recycling. But do they really know what that recycling is being turned into?
Being Eco-friendly is a huge deal in today’s society. With all the over-flowing landfills and pollution, we need to be self-aware. A great way to contribute to the cause is by recycling. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, in 2013 Americans recycled around 87 million tons of material. What actually happens to all these materials that are being recycled?
Below is a list of recyclable materials and how they are repurposed.
Newspaper is repurposed into egg cartons, kitty litter, construction paper, paper plates, insulation, and sheetrock.
Cardboard boxes and paper are turned into towel rolls, paper bags, new cardboard, tissue, toilet paper, and napkins.
Tin & Aluminium Cans make bike parts, car parts, steel beams, appliances, and new cans.
Glass is made into bottles, jars, containers, and fiberglass.
Plastic is repurposed into carpet, sleeping bags, play sets, plastic lumber, bottles, buckets, frisbees, and stadium seats.
These are just a few of the things that recycled products become. Next time you are reading a newspaper, drinking a bottle of water, or writing on a piece paper, remember all the things these items were before and will become again in the future.
