How can you be a good friend?
1. Show a genuine interest in others
Dale Carnegie, the author of How to Win Friends and Influence People said, “You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get people interested in you.” This means that being someone else and flaunting yourself in front of others will not earn you true friendship. Some people will become interested in you, but not for the right reasons.
2. Give more than you take
Giving more than you take doesn’t always mean actual physical gifts. It can be something like helping them with some school work or helping them move. It may not be easy at the moment, but it will make you feel better about yourself. Giving your time and devotion can help you keep friends and get more friends. People will see how giving and generous you are and will come to you when they need help.
3. Be loyal
Sadly, loyalty is very uncommon these days, but if you want a true friend and if you want to be a true friend, you need to be loyal. Being loyal is just doing all the regular, common sense things, like keeping secrets, being there for people, and standing by them.
