In March, Deborah Kilzer and Lesli Fason took the Check and Connect students from Foley High School on a field trip to the Wharf in Orange Beach. The students enjoyed lunch and the ropes course. They also did a scavenger hunt around the businesses and restaurants to learn about employment opportunities, valued skill sets and personal qualities in those particular jobs, and possible long-term career opportunities.
“We had a lot of fun! We did a ropes course, and we got to get something from the local restaurants after we interviewed them. My favorite place was called Southern Grind,” commented Asjha Heard.
Mrs. Fason said, “I think it was a great team-building experience for our students. They were able to find out what local businesses value in employment, and they also were able to experience some of the cool things in our area.”
