We sat down with Foley High School Varsity Basketball Player Khalia Ezell, chosen as February’s Basketball Player of the month by Coach Hunter, to take a look on his progression in the sport of basketball.
When did you begin playing basketball?
I started playing basketball around the age of four. It was always something that I did in my free time, and now since I’m on the basketball team, it has kind of consumed me.
What is your position in basketball?
My position in basketball is a point guard and also a shooting guard.
What inspired you to start playing basketball?
Ever since I was a little kid, my dad and I would go outside and play basketball at the local park. It was so much fun and he really inspired me to pursue basketball at a extra-curricular activity.
Who do you look up to?
One person who I look up to in basketball would have to be Derrick Rose. He is one of the best players in the NBA and I hope one day to be just as good as he is.
Do you have any plans of basketball for your future?
Yes, I plan to play basketball for Mississippi State. I’ve always wanted to go to Mississippi State and to play basketball for them would be an absolute dream.
What is your favorite basketball team?
My favorite basketball team would have to be the Chicago Bulls.
If you could give a future basketball player some advice, what would you say?
Work hard, Stay focused, and take basketball seriously while still having fun! Thanks Coach Hunter for picking me!
