Foley High School Peer Helpers accomplished a lot in September!
Suicide Prevention Awareness Week
- daily announcements with warning signs and prevention strategies
- posters and billboards in the hall
- pledge cards
- students wore purple and turquoise
- $150 was raised to donate to AFSP at the Out of the Darkness walk
For Attendance Awareness Month, we talked to all the students at Magnolia Elementary School about the importance of being at school every day.
New Student Social
We have over 130 new students at Foley High School!
We invited them to our Simply Sweet VIP Social for free desserts. They also received a ticket for free Kona Ice on Sept 23. Per Helpers have personally taken each person who enrolled after the first day of school on a tour of the campus. Those tours have occurred just about daily!
Peer Helper Trainings
We have helped with train younger peer helpers at 5 Rivers (elementary), Camp Beckwith (middle),and Elberta/Summerdale (elementary). We organized icebreakers and team building activities at some schools and taught lessons about skills at others.
PTO Open House
We assisted with Open House at Foley High School.
Foley Elementary Mentoring
We began our weekly mentoring at Foley Elementary at the end of September. We go twice per week to work with younger students who will be mentored all year.
